ProBots Family After spending ten years teaching in the Bahamas, I returned to Ottawa in 1988 to take a position as a computer science and mathematics teacher. In 2001, I became involved with the Glebe Robotics team, mentoring them for 14 years. In this role, I engaged with FIRST Robotics, IEEE LEGO robotics, Ontario Skills Robotics, and VEX Robotics. Under my mentorship, the Glebe Collegiate Robotics team has achieved significant success, qualifying twice and even participating once in the VEX World Championships. I have also volunteered as a Referee for the VEX Worlds in Anaheim, California, in 2014 and in Louisville, Kentucky, in 2015 and 2016. Retiring from teaching in June 2013, my passion for robotics and my desire to help students pursue careers in STEAM education led me to establish ProBots Ottawa. Through ProBots Ottawa, I aim to reach a greater number of students and provide them with the opportunity to explore the world of robotics, including Arduino courses. I am currently the Canadian Robotics Education and Competition Regional Support Manager (RSM) for VEX Robotics Competitions. This role allows me to offer robotics classes only during the summer. I hold Bachelor Degrees in Science and Education and a Master’s Degree in Computer Science Education and was part of the evaluation committee for the Ontario Technology Curriculum.
